Redeeming the Hours - Guest Link

" Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,
making the best use of the time, because the days are evil."
Ephesians 5:15-16

A Wise Woman Builds Her HomeJune, at the lovely blog A Wise Woman Builds Her Home, posted a challenging bloglet this week, entitled, "Idle Time is the Devil's Playground."

It is a challenging and encouraging message on how we can teach, train and encourage our children to redeem their hours, as well as our own, with simple and prayerful planning.

It's a wonderful read, especially as you may be finishing up your school year and finding yourself with children who have less work to do and more opportunities for mischief. (Especially, June notes, the digital variety that you may, sadly, never know is taking place in your home!)

For more help on how to schedule your home lives and help your children become more productive members of your household, please read Bootcamp for Lousy Housekeepers (of course!) I also recommend Steve and Teri Maxwell's Managers of Their Homes and Holly Pierlot's A Mother's Rule of Life, for more concrete, detailed, and encouraging instruction on scheduling family life to make the "best use of the time."

Heidi Schaap

Heidi is a child of God, a homemaker, wife to a studly backyard lumberjack, and homeschooling Momma to nine fun, highly energetic outdoorling children. Her family homesteads a small patch of woods in Ohio and when Heidi’s not in the kitchen baking bread or cookies, she’s growing veggies, playing tag with dairy goats, and shooing chickens off the front porch. Heidi loves books, natural living, and coffee…Actually, let’s put the coffee first. She is the author of Bootcamp for Lousy Housekeepers, a book she hopes will bless you immensely.
